The IUSS Executive Committee is pleased to announce that early-career scientists who submitted a scientific abstract, as presenting author, for Centennialiuss2024 to be held on19 to 21 May 2024 in Florence, Italy, will be eligible for a grant.

Support is limited to 20.000 € in total; 10.000 € for women and 10.000 € for men with a maximum support up to 1.000 € per applicant participating in person.  Support will only be paid as a reimbursement of travel costs and/or registration fee to the Centennialiuss2024 incurred.

Selection criteria
Support is only for early-career scientists who are high-quality Master or PhD students or who have completed a Master or PhD degree less than 3 years ago.

Applicants need to send their applications to iuss.secretariat@crea.gov.it by 15 February 2024, accompanied by the following documentation written in English:

1. Application letter including the level of funding being requested up to a max. of 1.000 € (PDF file).
2. Student certificate or copy of Master or PhD certificate.
3. Confirmation of abstract submission.
4. Two-page CV (PDF file).
5. Confirmation letter from a national soil science society (Full member of IUSS meaning the agreed subscription fee must be paid) confirming your membership of that society.

Grants evaluation committee
The selection of those applicants to be supported by these grants will be carried out by an IUSS Committee consisting of selected members of the IUSS Executive Committee.

Results
Applicants who are selected to obtain the requested financial support will be notified directly by the IUSS no later than 29 February 2024.
