A tour in the heart of the eternal City, towards the magnificent Baroques piazzas and the most beautiful “vie” (streets) of Rome. The visit starts in Piazza Del Popolo, designed by Valadier, and will bring the participants towards via di Ripetta, the Mausoleum of Augustus (1st century BC), via della Scrofa and Piazza Navona where stands the famous Fountain of the Four Rivers, by Bernini. The tour will include also a visit to Villa Lubin in Rome, the historical place where the IUSS was founded.
After a typical local lunch, the group will head to via dei Fori Imperiali where will take a memorable walk in the Imperial Fora (public squares), one of the most beautiful sites in the world and the heart of the Roman Empire, built between 46 BC and 113 AD.
The last part of the tour will bring the participants to the Colosseum (external only) and, finally, to the IUSS Secretariat headquarters in Via della Navicella, (hosted by CREA, the most important Italian public research institution on agrifood) just beside one of the most beautiful Roman parks, Villa Celimontana. Upon arrival, a cocktail will be served and the IUSS Centennial Video will be shown to the guests.
